WOW!  A brand new message board, Thank you !

First of all, let me say I am a HUGE fan of Michael Neill.  I listen regularly to the radio show and even called in once. I re-listened to that show to get a boost.  ( Out side the comfort zone ! )

I am a newly certified hypnotherapist and I feel I need more training / instructions / mentoring / help!  My current work history is that I am an Office Manager for a small business, so I literally have no other training in hypnotherapy than the 300 hours of instruction from the Hypnotherapy Institute in Corte Madera, CA. with Marlene Maulder and Randell Churchill.

I spend alot of time on line looking for training centers and now have really confused myself and can't make a decision, YET.   I also practice hypnotherapy with anyone who will allow me to spend some time with them. Currently I see one woman for weekly appointments.  This is an amazing feat for me!

Does anyone have knowledge about Cal Banyan's  5 Path training?   Also, I am looking at NLP training.  Specifically, someone recommended Robert McDonald.  I am hoping to find training close to home, which is Northern Ca. however I am not locked into that decision.

Does anyone have thoughts  / ideas / information about what my next step should be?

Has anyone else gone from a non related job to Hypnotherapy and is successful?

Thank you so much for the wonderful work you do Michael! Again, I am a loyal fan and I tell everyone to listen to you!

Blessings and Light,
Amy

Hi Amy
I have done the same path as your self but with the addition of attending the same practitioner course that Peter went on.
It was a life changing moment, there is more going on in that course than just learning techniques to do NLP, you are receiving NLP in pure form which means it is changing you at an unconscious level.
I came out with a 'go get it' attitude which was really powerful stuff and I wasn't expecting it. It's no good learning something if you can't practice it because of self doubt, Dr.Bandler leaves no room for that after he has taught you in his unique indelible style!

What exactly is the outcome your looking for in your new career?
How will you know when you have it?
What will it be that lets you know ?

All the best

Thank you Peter and Peter for replying.  I sure do appreciate hearing from others who have gone down this path.  I am wondering if anyone here has heard of Dr. Robert McDonald?   He is offering a class called "Healing the wounded Heart"  It was recommended for me to attend this class from another hypnotherapist.  It sounds maybe like it is what Bandler class is offering?   Question?  I am not sure.   The up side is that this class is in my neighborhood. I just couldn't swing flying to London, as much as I would like too........... but maybe I am limiting my self again?

I am going to take some thoughtful time and reply to Peters questions at the end of his post, but I don't have the tirne right now.... thank you again for asking the questions....

Here, I cut and pasted the info.   Has anyone heard of Dr. Robert McDonald?

Tgis may not answer your question fully, however, my experience is similar to the two Peters. Do the NLP training with Richard Bandler in which Michael and paul McKenna are also a huge part. Life is different after.

Hi Amy
the course looks interesting. One thing I noted from reading the info you pasted, the advertising approach regarding the content you would learn was very biased to 'away from' strategies. It ALSO pre-supooses that you have a broken heart that requires fixing if you read the introduction to what you will learn. What about people who are possitive and just want to learn some new things and become even more possitive and feel good?
It makes me wonder how much of a positive intent this course will provide? As I have not done it and I do not know the organization I could be completely wrong, but it was just some thing that when I read the info struck me , there wasn't a lot of positive and good feeling (state management) material evidence coming across, it was a bit doom and gloom, or was that just the way I read it?
I would be interested to know how this course will make you feel having finished it? Is it just about learning or will there be growth for you own personal development in a flexible direction?

All courses are useful if your open to learning and experiencing new things, sorry I can't be more help with regard to this course you mention. Do they have any testimonials? Do they offer any taster workshops so you can get a feel of what their style of teaching is about?

It would also help to answer this question. When you think about going for your new business, do you get positive good feelings and thoughts or negative fearful ones? And how do you know which they are?

best regards
Peter

Hi Amy
I also trained in London with Michael, Paul and Richard and i then completed the Master Prac with Richard and John LeValle.  I am not sure about Richard but i believe John still lives in New Jersey and they hold courses in Florida which would be much nearer for you.
If you look on the web you will find details, i think the website is www.purenlp.com but i could be wrong.
ps. I agree Michael is the best!  Wink
and his enthusiasm rubs off on you.
I am now based in Australia and although i hold a certificate in hypnosis gained in the UK as well as one you get through the Master Prac, i am looking do do a diploma in hypnotherapy in this country.
Good look with your training, you will not regret it!

I wrote an article called "How to choose an NLP training" which can be found in word form at www.tranceformingnlp.com and as an mp3 at www.nlpmp3.com
Considerations are the size of the group, travel costs, speaking to the trainers ahead of time to get an idea of training style, the certification among other things

Above all look around and ASK questions before making a choice

Good Luck

Thank you everyone for your thoughtful replies.  I have been to Richard Bandler and Paul McKenna's web site and have listened to audio clips, read the info and gained a little insight.  I would really love to go to London to get trained by the originators of NLP. At first I poo- pooed it, saying no way could I ever do that, and then I remembered Michael's question:  What would be your WOW!  Well now........... this would be my WOW........ going to London to get the best training.  In the past I was not a good student and never enjoyed school, but since I found hypnotherapy and NLP, I just can't seem to get enough information. I'll have to start saving!  But if anyone hears that these dynamic trio will be in California...........  please let me know!

I am still musing over Peters questions to me:

What exactly is the outcome your looking for in your new career?
How will you know when you have it?
What will it be that lets you know ?

They were very thought provoking and I have never asked myself these questions.   I would have to say my "outcome" would be to be of assisantance to others........... so often I have come to others asking for help, ideas, etc to clear my foggy brain. I would love to say : I have something to offer for others..........  in a trained professional manner and that "they" are calling me!   I'll have "it" when I have my own office with my own clients and my own phone! "   ( right now a friend loans me her office!)  I am blest !  I keep these question close to my computer, looking at them ......... enjoying them......... thank you!

ONE MORE QUESTION:
So, I went to see Robert Dilts.   He is someone here in California with a NLP class. Actually a whole list of things.  As far as I can tell from the web, it looks like he was trained by Robert Bandler.  His web site is: nlpu.com        He was talking about the Wealth Factor in the free session that I saw him at.  What I wanted was more infomation on nlp training.  I didn't have a chance to talk to him that night, but I will contact him and ask more questions.   anyhoo......... just wondering if anyone knows the lineage" of Richard or has information regarding the training of Robert Dilts.

THANK YOU !   ;-)   Amy
Enjoy the day............

oops......

One more question:

Would there be  training DVD's  that anyone would recommend for a newbie......... who knows nothing about NLP?    I bought the book The structure of magic and have to say I am lost.............. Huh

Thank you'

Dear Amy
great start. quote, you say : I have something to offer for others..........  in a trained professional manner and that "they" are calling me!
That's fantastic, so how about starting to say that to your self right now? Every day , and turn the volume up in your head when you do it! Say it as lovingly to your self as you can.

You say quote"I'll have "it" when I have my own office with my own clients and my own phone! " , so now imagine in your head what that office would look like, how it would be decorated etc, see the room and hear the phone ringing, and feel what the ambience of the room is like? See your self in that room feeling proud and happy. Turn up the colors if  it helps make the image stronger, if it's in black and white, try making it color, if it makes it stronger for you keep the new image.
This way you are giving your self a reality to create. The stronger you see, hear and feel this the more likely you are to get it with ease, just let go of any resistance to not having it and play with your imagination. See it as a done deal and that your already there enjoying your new life. It's a small step from creating to having,
why not start right now!

Glad to hear you might be visiting us here in London for the Wow factor, They say the best things are worth waiting for.

If you want to see Richard Bandler in action helping clients, look up the dvd set  "The Bandler effect", it's well worth the money as there is a mile of excellent therapy work to watch and learn from (and the added bonus that it works on you as well when you watch it).

Best wishes

Do go to www.purenlp.com as this is where you'll find links to a list of NLP training institutes.  I would certainly recommend John LaValle's courses in Florida if you can't get to London.

Be great!

HI Everyone,
I wanted to send an update to this thread.  I ended up going to the "Healing the Wounded Heart" workshop with Dr. Robert McDonald and have to say it was FANTASTIC!  It was more than I could have hoped for, dreamed of or even knew to desire.

The focus of the workshop was to teach  8 NLP processes, which I am sure that all of you know.  The swishes, phobia cure, conflict resolution, 6 step reframe and more.

Not only did we learn these fabulous tools, but Dr. Robert McDonald teaches commpassion and using these tools along with Spirit.  Anyone know Science of Mind ?    NLP with a Heart !  Now this was some great workshop and I am not finished. I get to go back at the end of Nov.    I am using the time in between to practice the new tools.  WOWOWOWO...

As a very side note, lots of you helped me with my questions about "how to see picutures"     YEA!!  Things have opened up and I really do "see" ..........  I don't "see" in the front of my eyes, I see in the back / top of my head.  I am playing around with the whole idea and much more open to seeing pictures.   It is truly a miracle in my books!

I learned how I am a very strond audio person and got help eliminating negative self talk.  YIPEEEEEEE

I got to experience first hand what Robert calls the Trauma process,  and you all most likely call the Phobia cure... ..   I am in total awe of how much "SPACE" I have in my head now.... It is hard to put in words on this post.  I bet some of you might understand what I am trying to say.

Anyhoo.,......  Just thought I'd send an update and keep in touch.   I am in love with learning the nlp process and want to learn more more more!

Have a great day

The Bandler Effect is really excellent as not only does it show Richard in action with a series of different clients, but also he gives some explanation as to what he is doing. I have found this set to be extremely useful and recommend it to all our NLP students. I have seen Richard many times since the 1990s and he never ceases to amaze, a true genius communicator of our time
