I would like to know more about Michael's wife business as a shipper for internet businesses, something he mentioned on one of his Hayhouse radio programs.  I am guessing that she is a drop shipper. Can you tell me more?  I'd like to explore setting up an online business with my children as a way to teach them about building a business but don't want to set up a warehouse, even a small one.
Many thanks.

Hey, Margo -

I'll see if I can get Nina online at some point to explain in more detail, but essentially she is a drop shipper - we keep small amounts of stock at the house or in the garage, but it remains the property of the people she ships for - i.e. we're not resellers.

Tools of the trade:
A computer
A label printer
A 'franking machine' (so she doesn't have to wait in line at the post office)
A lot of patience for the fiddly bits!

love,
michael

Hi!  am new to the forum and am very interested in finding out more about this. I live in Australia so it would probably go by a different name but have no idea how to go about getting started or who to contact, any ideas please.

Hi ya new girl, welcome to the forum  Grin

Drop shipping has been going on for a long time now and is popular amoungst the e-bayers of this world. With most drop shipping companies, you dont hold the stock, you sale a item of stock for the company ie on e-bay or via a web site, you then either place the sale with the drop shipping company for that oreder and they send it out and you get a certain amount of money for the sale, or if you are doing it through a web site that is a front page linking people to the drop shippers company web site, then the order will automatically go through to the drop shipping company and then you will get your money either way. A lot of drop shipping companies work from the respect when you have earnt a certain amount of money with them, they will post a cheque or pay via paypal to you.
One thing to bear in mind, its not easy to make money from selling on line, as so many people are trying to do it, there is huge competition. If you think about having your own web site built, make sure that the person who is building it really knows what they are doing, its one thing to have a web site made and its another thing to have a very productive web site made. So many people know how to build web sites, what they dont know how to do is to get them found with ease by the search engines, without having to pay anything or costing a fortune in advertising. I would always say that web site developers need to put their money where their mouth is, so to speak, they need to make sure that the web site works out in the big cyber world. You can have the best looking site and get no hits.

Some drop shippers will deliver stock to you as well, and then you sale it normally on line. Instead of the company sending it out to the buyer they send it to you and you forward it on.

I hope this has helped in some respects. Feel free to ask anymore questions

Hugs
Michelle

thanks Michelle yes that does help a lot, I am currently looking at setting up a home based business so that i can still be a stay at home mum, it's interesting that you should mention designing web pages as that is another option I am looking at, could be that I should be training in that area instead.

thanks new girl
