Hi.
Bandler, McKenna, Neill these guys inspire me, I have learn a lot from them, thanks....
Now my question every marketing course I go to they say the same thing, choose an area in coaching and market your self in that, for exampel confidence, stress, fear. phobias, panik.... and so on. And the less you include, for example only market "confidence" it is easier to get the firm in a positive spin, thay tell me. Have these guys Bandler, McKenna, Neill done that?
I believed they work with all different kinds of persons and not only them with specific problems.
Yes, Iám afraid to loose a client, if I market my self more specific...

(Sorry about my English, hope you understand)

All of you, have a great life ;-)

Hi Stefan,

Interesting post

When i first started out coaching, a very good friend of mine (a very successful business coach) gave me some advice that proved invaluable to me.

That advice was - Niche, Niche, Niche.....and then Niche some more !

I already ran ( and still run) a successful business in the thrill a minute world of Health & Safety. I wanted to coach anybody, in any field. But i took my friends advice and only coached people in the same situation that i had been in (Safety Consultants).....this gave me the confidence to grow my coaching practice and now i do indeed coach anybody from any field.

In short, my advice to you would be to niche your coaching practice....initially anyway.

And dont apologise about your english...my family have been speaking it for hundreds of years, and i stiil aint got it right ! Wink

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark

So it is true. But how many niche do I need. Just now I niche my self as a mental coach help people with mental problems. But when I think of it most clients I have is afraid of something, they want to do something but they fokus on the bad stuff. What they need is confidence and faith in them self. (and some times a kick in the as....) So should I niche my self as one who can help them to get rid of there fears or confidence and faith coach? Is that niched enough "confidence" or do I niche confidence.....and so on?

Hope on a new reply

So it is true.

All i can say is (with any degree of certainty) ....it was true for me.

When all is said and done, do what feels 'right' for you.

Hi Stefan

In my experience, I would say specialize by all means, but make your specialty everything within the field. For me, to specialize is incongruent to how I think about NLP and the attitude I have towards the field. If I specialized to much that would be the opposite of what I feel NLP is about.

I would say your best option is to think about things, as you, marketing yourself, rather than what you practice. Be it Sport, change work, business, education, so and so on, I would have thought that the one thing that is constant within any of the above is that you will be present. Have a think about it and see how you feel about it.

PS note of advice promoting yourself may work in your country, over here I would not see you getting a lot of business, but I have great picture in my mind now.

Hi Mark Gittos!
Thanks for the advice  Smiley
But this I dont understand, you wrote: note of advice promoting yourself may work in your country, over here I would not see you getting a lot of business, but I have great picture in my mind now.

Promoting doesn´t work over there? Sweden is enough for me. What picture?

Hi Stefan

I am referring to your reference of your niche as a "mental coach", that would have a different connotation  in this country
