Hi Hilary

One non NLP technique that I learned on my management diploma course is to create a "risk register" (just a list) and then create contingency plans to deal with the risks as they arise.
You can then use this info to walk through your time line.
There is a technique developed by Robert Dilts for problem solving which I've done at a practice group which is very powerful. But I've forgotten the name. (anybody know?) (Nick?)
You view where you are at the present, view your past position, view the position you want to be in the furture, consider the costs of getting there and being in your new position to discover if its really where you want to be and worth the effort. Do this spacially ( simmliar to walking your time line) standing in each position and veiwing the problem or decision from the different perspectives.
Another technique I was shown is rub your forefinger and thumb together while thinking about the decision and if they "sticky or your feel resistance" either say no or be very carful how you proceed. If your finger and thumb are moving smoothly then go for it!!

Please try all these before taking any major decisions

Hope this helps
