If you were hosting a dinner party and could invite five guests, who would they be? And why those five people?

My dad - because he died 1.5 years ago and I can't philosophize about stuff with him any more, like i.e. the "Brazil nut problem" Jesus - to get first hand information from him about how everything really was Osama Bin Laden - to ask him "Why?" Giacomo Casanova - to see if I could resist him and what was so special about him Bruce Willis - ...for dessert

My fantasy dinner party:
*My wife Nina, because she's my favorite person to talk to *Byron Katie, because I find her fascinating to be around *Abraham Lincoln, just to chat *Mark Twain, to hear him tell stories *The Buddha, as I'd love to hear him dialogue with Katie

Nadine from Girls Aloud. Richard Bandler. For his amusing stories. Bob Monkhouse. A brain like a super computer with more great and funny stories. Ayn Rand. I would like to know what she thinks of the world we live in today. Donald Trump. Would love to hear what he thinks of my ideas and would want him to fund my futuristic endeavors

Nice thread!
* My wife, Kate - for all the same reasons as Nina, and also because she's an outrageous flirt at those sorts of occasions * William Blake - for bending my mind the last few months (with Northrop Frye helping explain), and a fine ranter too * Mark Gittos - True Jedi Status achieved. A wonder among gorillas. And I don't see enough of him! * Andy Nelson - my friend and business partner, and always ready for the full half hour, in a "discussion" * Jonathan Altfeld - great conversation and very fine party tricks
I think that would make a great evening, and we'd quite likely go on to a club afterwards...

Agreed....nice thread indeed. Adolph Hitler - (oooer contraversial) In 1928 you could have held a Nazi party rally in a phone box...10 years later we all know what happened....the man must have had unyielding (if misguided) self belief. My 2 Sons - Hope this counts as one (they wont eat much...honest) for the obvious My Partner Tracey - After 2 divorces, at last, someone who 'knows what i mean'.... Mel Brooks - Should be an interesting conversation with Adolph Martins wife Kate - Never met her, but i understand she is a bit of a flirt ? Cheers, Mark

Good question
David Niven - a wit and raconteur beyond compare
Grace Kelly - you need to ask why?
Meriweather Lewis - heck knows what a man who traversed America by boat and foot in 1804-6 would make of us savages!
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall - well I don't want to have to cook
Helen Keller - supremely inspirational
