It's 3 questions... ;-)
I don't really have a hero, but heros or people who inspire me would always be people who positively change other people's lives.
For the past year i.e. I've said that my HR director is my hero - because she solved a problem I was carrying around with me for a year and didn't know what to do about it. I had a problem with my boss and was sure that my company would be automatically on the side of my boss and if anyone would get fired it would be me, that's why I never said anything. Until I was close to a burnout. I had a chat with her when I was really desperate and later she facilitated a meeting with me and my boss and the next day everything was better! I had the feeling I came out as the winner of this meeting. And even if it was all staged and they just wanted to make me feel good (which I actually don't think) - I don't care because I really did feel better afterwards and I saw how my boss was trying to change. Ok, the fact that we both left the department 2 months later also helped ;-) Anyway, this was one of the things that inspired me to become a coach. I'm not a coach yet, but my studies are almost finished and if I think what I want to specialize on, it's exactly what she did. I want to be there for the "little" people in the corporate world and help them be happy in their jobs, mainly by coaching their managers how to deal with them. It seems like as soon as someone gets promoted, they forget how it was to be a subordinate (in my company anyway) and that's where I want to come in ;-) Right now I am already training the jr. managers so maybe I can help raising a new generation of managers with a coaching managment style!
Who inspires me? Right now it's 2 people. One is Michael. It was Tony Robbins some time ago, but i noticed after a while that though listening to his CD's could lift me up and bring me in a good mood - he didn't really make me DO things to change my life. It was too much blah blah around the actual message. I came across Michael's book totally by coincidence but I found he "speaks my language", i actually did the excercises in his book and he's funny, too. I listen to his show's to learn how to have a coaching conversation, what questions to ask, etc.
The other one is "Abraham". Well, it's not really a person as we know, or even "one" person. But listening to the Abraham-Hicks workshops is absolutely inspiring for me to shift my perspective, to have a more positive attitude, to enjoy the moment and not worry too much about the future. I still have a long way to go, but just listening to them is incredibly inspiring.
