A couple of weeks ago I got through on Michael?s radio show to talk about a problem I was having.
As a hypnotherapist I had started to market myself through the local pubs to coincide with the smoking ban in public places that was being introduced in the UK. This had proved quite successful on the couple of occasions that I had used it yet I felt reluctant to do more ? and couldn?t understand why!  Huh

The challenge that I was given was that every time I felt I ?should? do something, I didn?t do it; only acting when I felt truly inspired to do so.
Whilst I made one small exception for renewing my car tax (!), I pretty much stuck to this for 2 weeks.

Well, coming off the phone I immediately felt ?lighter?. I felt that Michael?s diagnosis had been spot on and that the feeling of ?should? was actually repressing me rather and inspiring me. A couple of days later I felt inspired to go and leaflet a local office area, which will also be affected by the ban.
For the rest of the fortnight, however, I was looking at a fairly thin appointment book and waiting for inspiration to strike.
I feel that after a fortnight the power of ?should? has been broken and that I?ve stopped ?shoulding on myself?. Now I just need to find those pesky clients!!

Good experiment. I've had fun (well, a bit of a holiday, really) and learned heaps.  Grin

Thanks

Tim.

Well done, Tim!

A couple of questions to keep the inspiration flowing:

What would be fun?

What would be bizarre?

What would be outrageous?

What would you do if you weren't afraid?

What would you do if you weren't uncomfortable?

What would Jack Reacher do?  (character in Lee Child detective novels - you can pick your own superhero!  Cheesy)

Have (even more) fun and learn heaps more!

love,
michael

Thanks Michael,

Great questions that I can see myself using in all sorts of situations.

In fact I?m going to print them off and stick them up in the shower ? well it works for me anyway!  Grin

I?ll also undertake to post updates from time to time.
This will have the added advantage of making sure that whatever I do worth writing about.
(I have an eccentric friend who, for as long as I have known him has kept a journal in a loose leaf file. It took me quite a while to figure out that he lived his life so that it made interesting reading!)  Smiley

So thanks again for your help.

Take care,

Tim.
