Hi all,

I'm going on holiday soon and I'm reeeeaaaallly up for a good book that I can get lost in and that has nothing to do with coaching or NLP or anything for a change Smiley Still, I do like a little psychology or philosophy weaved in, I don't mind learning something while I read Smiley but I'm really looking for a thick book that will last me two weeks and will really take my mind off work as soon as I get on the plane!

Any ideas?

If you are also going on vacation soon, here are my recommendations Smiley

The Swarm by Frank Schaetzing - German Eco-Thriller. Has been translated now in English!
The girls he adored by Jonathan Nasaw - Thriller about a serial killer who has multiple personalities. Fantasticly written and even a bit amusing.. Each personality has their "task" and you never get confused who's turn it is right now...
In Lucia's eyes by Arthur Japin - How Casanova became Casanova and what became of his first love (fiction, based on his biography)

Hi Anja,

I can thorouoghly recommend The Interpretation of Murder by Jed Rubenfeld.

Its a real page turner very loosely based on fact (with a huge chunk of artistic licence thrown in)

The factual part = Sigmund Freud visited America only once, he stayed for a short period of time and on leaving vowed never to return. No-one ever found out why, but some historians believe a trauma of sorts occured during his visit.

The Fiction part = A murder occurs......

Cheers,

Mark

2 weeks !

In that case, rush out and buy This book will save you life by A.M. Homes

Donuts, Sink holes, and reconnecting with the real world.

A pleasant little read, and not as the title would suggest a self help book.

Cheers,

Hey Mark!

I had a great vacation Smiley

Thanks for the tip - I read "The interpretation of murder" and really enjoyed it! Learned a lot about the history of NYC and the Freud / Jung relationship, very interesting! The plot was also very clever, with a totally unexpected ending - I actually had to go back and read certain parts again, to get it.

Great tip!!

Mark (and everyone),
on my holiday I found another great book (very old, left behind in a cabin..). It's called the "psychotherapy and cure of satan" or something.. here's the link http://www.amazon.co.uk/Satan-Psychotherapy-Unfortunate-Kassler-J-S-P-S/dp/0394523709

I haven't finished it yet, but it's hilarious - Satan seeing a therapist... and it's written in almost a Douglas Adams-y kind of style, fantastic!
