Ok.  So, here's a problem.  It seems that whenever things are going really well in some aspect of my life (such as my relationship, my career, finances, whatever) and I am thinking, "Wow!  I finally have what I want!" and feeling good about it, my mind will suddenly flash back to a movie about a time when things were going much worse in that aspect of my life.  I try to talk to myself when that happens and say things like "You sure have come  a long way.  That's great."  But, actually what happens is that I get lost in that movie and all of the negative feelings that come along with it...leaving me wondering if things are really as great as they seem or if they will soon go back to where they were, etc.  It's like I'm not allowing myself to enjoy the moment.  How can I stop this?

P.S.  After I posted this, I thought about how I would answer this question if a client of mine asked me:  "well, if you decide you will be happy inside no matter what is happening externally, the movies will lose their power and fade away."  I like that answer.  LOL
However, it seems that these movies are so powerful, it might take some time to fade in this way.  So, I would really love to hear a quicker technique for getting them to fade.  I'm just becoming familiar with NLP and not really sure how to put it into place here.

Have a look through your "in your head" movie collection and see if you can find one called something like "Best time of my life, EVER" or "Wow, I feel totally unstoppable" that kind of thing. Take note and remember where you keep it.

If you ever start to play those other old movies that are no use anymore, you know, the ones that make you feel bad - smile for a second as you notice what's happening, just because now you know what it's all about. Take the old movie out and replace it with the one you found earlier and notice how much more fun it is to watch that one and let us know how it feels.

With love

Hi Mark--
Thanks for that.  I like that and am working on it.
One problem I'm discovering, though, is that those "Wow" movies are not as long or detailed as those movies that bring negative emotions.  I think that's why those others are taking up so much space in my brain.
Any tips for switching that around?

Hello

I hope my like diagram makes sense-

I want you to take a little time to build a very powerful positive anchor- so as a way to start, that think about a number of positive real life experiences, start with the first one and when your right  in the peek, of that experience press your finger and thumb together, and practice using that anchor- press the finger and thumb together and notice how, you can get them good feelings back, seeing, hearing, and feeling  the experience in  ways that make you feel good, then do that same thing with up to 3 more experiences.  and once you have built this personal powerful resource anchor- go and get a drink, just to brake state- you could do anything- read a page of a book, flick through a few TV channels, any thing as long as its different..

past----RA-----M----------present-----------------future
         >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> x5

So "M" = movie RA =Resource Anchor- go to a time and place before the old movie ever had the chance to be come apart of your life- this could be a number of minutes before the events were created or a few days, what ever looks and feels right to you,now press your finger and thumb together back there in that time and bring back and take into the future the Resource states- and repeat 5 times, knowing that all the learnings from these times and places are still intact- yet now they have a different emotional base to them- now if you repeat this 7-11 with a number of different movies then you will teach your brain to do it automatically.

Hope this is helpful and make sense.

Hi, what you could try is to imagine yourself in the cinema watching yourself from the projector box watching your head movie, (like the fast phobia excersise, then float down into your self watching the film and then go to the  end of the film
then take all the colour out and the sound as you watch it again  and make it weak
then step into the end of the head movie or whats left of it and run it backwards very fast about 5 secconds making the buzzzzzzzzzzzzz  as you reverse it
and then see  how you have destroyed the film...completely
its best to get someone to do this for you who KNOWS what they are doing
but why not try it first yourself
good luck
