I just love supportive online communities. In fact, my favorite one just disbanded, and I'm really missing it. Do you need something in particular? Maybe I could help you.

I had never heard of tapping before, and so I was totally in the dark about it...until now. Thanks for sharing this, I already really love using the technique.

6  Coaching / Ask the Coach / Term for baby steps? on: February 06, 2007, 04:06:23 PM
Friends,
I was wondering if there's a term in NLP that refers to the process of making one small change in one's behavior each day that adds up to big changes over time.  (Perhaps this term IS "NLP!")  I know that such a concept is called kaizen in Japanese commerce, and we laypeople have been known to call them baby steps. What do you call this phenomenon?

An article series sounds great, and what with my being such a newcomer to the subject matter, I wouldn't discriminate based on topic; I'd read them all!

8  Genius Catalyst / This, That and the Other / Looking for an illustrator on: December 30, 2006, 04:14:46 PM
Hi all,

I'm looking for an illustrator to help me with a new project I'm working on, and so I'm turning to you, the Genius Catalyst community, for recommendations. The right person is located in the US, and is open to receiving some direction from me, as well doing some free-form collaborating with me on developing what I would describe as a cartoon character.  He or she is also someone who's willing to converse with me about what makes for fair compensation.  If you or someone you know is interested in an ongoing project, please PM me or email me at jody at jodyreale dot com.
9  Genius Catalyst / Reviews / Re: What are your "must-see" films? on: December 30, 2006, 12:29:26 AM
Cheers to the Officespace mention!

There's a tie for all-time favorite between The Big Lebowski and Fast Times at Ridgemont High.  I'm also a big fan of the entire John Hughes suite of '80s flicks and the arthouse film of yore, Hillary and Jackie.

Wondering if there are other struggling writers out there.  I have been writing screenplays for a number of years. Have had options and some interest but really frustrating.  Recently completed a novel...sometimes wonder if I'm just banging my head against the wall.

Hi Char,
I'm a writer too. I write narrative nonfiction and personal essays, and right now I'm working on a collection.  I was frustrated a few years ago myself, but the truth is that I can't not write, so that's what I'm doing: Writing the kinds of things I enjoy the most. Have you tried joining a writer's workshop or critique group? I've found groups a tremendous source of support.

Best,
Jody

I'm grateful for your work, too, Michael. I've been enjoying your radio show this year, and I'm looking forward to continuing to participate in the forums you've been so generous to provide.  Thank you.
Love,
Jody

Hey, Jody -

Came across this tip I wrote a few years back - thought it might be relevant!

Hey! What a terrific tip. Downright inspirational. Many thanks.

Hi all,

I'm a long-time lurker who wants to ask you all what you do to change your thinking about how "silly" or "important" your work is.  I'm a humorist who's soon to launch a line of greeting cards. I'm sure they'll be a great success, but now and then I catch myself thinking things like, "Well that's a silly thing to spend your valuable time on."   What are your silly/important strategies?
