Sounds like acceptance to me but Jay I will say that "forgiving that time stamp" is maybe the best advise I have heard,

I have been having this conversation with a friend and she is unable to give me a satisfactory answer, what is the difference between forgiving and accepting.

In my mind you forgive your kids when they do something stupid and break something, crash the car or maybe say something hurtful before they think about it.

I don't know how it is possible to forgive someone (usually a trusted adult) for any sort of abuse.

All the therapy in the world cannot stop painful memories, even if they are not present all the time, sometimes you see something on telly, a comment made in jest, a song can bring all that pain back in a flash.

I think as long as a person is clear in their head that in no way did they invite or deserve the abuse it is easier to accept but forgive..........

Can anyone tell me why as soon as I write my goals down or talk about them I seem to go off the rails.

I can plan, give myself stratagies to avoid or deal with situations, but as soon as I tell anyone what I'm aiming for I go back to my old habits.

It took me about four years to give up smoking but when i finally did give it up i kept it to myself and just did it.

I can lose weight but when I talk about it to a friend who is also struggling I start putting it back on again.

No one is sabotaging any of my goals except me, I just don't understand why, any ideas?

point taken, I hope everyone who is creating the impossible this month goes really well, I'll be signing up next time. and until then i'll keep smiling.

My impossible july would be
1. finishing all the odd jobs around the house that are driving me nuts
2. catch up on all the boring bookwork
3. create a job that works around my family
4. lose 15 more kgs.

I would hate to see the forum go, there a lot of people like me i'm sure who often look but don't post, it often provides food for thought and it is interesting to see what others are thinking.  I haven't used twitter but it looks to me like it's not possible to get the level of support the forum offers.

Is it possible to help pathological and compulsive liars or do you just learn to accept it?  Experience has taught me that pathologial liars can cause a lot of damage to the people around them.

I'm not sure who can help me with this but I've just been into the book shop to order Micheal's new book and been told by the ever so helpful shop assistant (not) that it won't be available over here for about six months or longer and it's not listed on the hay house site yet. I guess what i'm trying to find out is how long until I can get the book  and his new cd's in australia.

I'm having a problem with my 14 year old son, aside from the normal teenager "i'm not interested in what your saying" stuff, he seems to be quiet angry most of the time, I know he is very jealous of his brothers who play football, (he can't because of a neck injury) and feels that football is all his father is interested in, he has no patience with his brothers of father and only communicates with me and even that is a struggle, he seems to have been angry since birth. he has a lot of good points but seems very hard to hide those, how can you help someone who doesn't want to be helped

they are all fantastic, but I looove 'chaos in focus' definately one i would buy if i saw it,   i really do love it

thanks Michelle yes that does help a lot, I am currently looking at setting up a home based business so that i can still be a stay at home mum, it's interesting that you should mention designing web pages as that is another option I am looking at, could be that I should be training in that area instead.
