My Father,Derek, sadly passed away to Cancer in November 2006 at Nightingale House Hospice in Wrexham, North Wales, UK.

Being completely honest this has been my most devastating life event to date, all of my knowledge and skills went out of the window in trying to come to terms with this.

However, six or so months later and with the help of friends, extended colleagues and Michael's new book I'm back with positivity in my life. As William Penn said "I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."

On 3rd July 2007 myself and my brother Matthew,Dad's youngest brother Howard and a family friend (Darren) will be taking on a charity challenge to raise funds for and show our appreciation to Nightingale House for the tremendous care they showed Dad and the family.

Nightingale House Hospice supports individuals and their families living with a diagnosis of a life limiting condition. http://www.nightingalehouse.co.uk/

The Longest Day of Golf will take place at Old Padeswood Golf Club. Tee off time is 5.00am and the four golfers will complete their challenge (16 hours, 72 holes, 16 miles and numerous blisters later) at 9.00pm.

We have set ourselves a challenging day and fundraising target of £5000.

We need your help!

To donate please visit www.justgiving.com/derekdarlington where you can safely donate by credit or debit card and leave a message.

Many, many thanks in anticipation.
Mark and Family

Dear Mark,
wishing you all the best for your golf day.

My brother died of cancer just over 2 years ago.
He has 3 daughters 2, 4 and 6 year olds.
Each year all his friends hold an annual golf day in Sydney, to raise funds to be put in a trust for the girls.

My only suggestion is that you could make it an annual fund raising event.
Get local businesses involved by sponsoring and donating prizes.

blessings to you and your family.
