Hi All,
With the alleged threat of all things NLP & Coaching becoming 'regulated' in the future, i thought i may as well 'justify' myself as a coach and gain further 'qualifications'
(Dont get me started on whether they are required or not, thats a whole different rant!!)
Anyway, back to the point, i was wondering if any of you knew of a training provider that carries out Business / Performance training to Diploma level ?
Wait for it...theres a catch...
... What i am looking for specifically is a provider that will carry out said training 'block' style (Residential/ Intensive over 1 month for instance not spread out over weeks / months)
I am prepared to travel anywhere in the world to attend the training (if indeed such trainings exist ?) i am UK based.
Looking forward to your replies, passport and cash in my grubby mits
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Hi Mark, I did mine with Achievement Specialists www.achievementspecialists.co.uk. The course is a residential weekend (in Bournemouth) followed by coursework, which can be completed quickly if you're really in that much of a rush. You do need to log 50 hours of coaching before you can complete the Diploma. They have various options, depending on the amount of business-building support and coaching you require. If you go for it, tell Curly I sent you as they have a referral scheme However ... do you really need to rush? Standards for coaching are coming (sloooooowly) but if you have a track record of satisfied clients that will count for more than a Diploma. Even when standards are ratified, I really can't see them becoming mandatory for a very long time, if ever. As for standards for NLP - is anyone even working on those yet? I'd genuinely like to know, 'cos if they are we need to ensure they know what they're attempting to do Once the standards are publically well known I guess some potential clients might ask for your accrediation - in a few years time. So, calm calm calm and find a course that really suits your approach and your desired outcomes. And whatever you do, enjoy it. Ian

Hi Ian,
Thanks for that.
No real 'rush' at all, but my preffered learning style is short, sharp etc. Almost 'Skill Drilling'
No clients have ever asked me for proof of competency and i like to think that my results cover that area nicely anyway. As i said in the previous post, dont even get me started on whether 'qualifications' are necessary. I personally know several coaches on 'six-figure' incomes without a qualification between them (other than Master Prac...obviously)
So in short, I 'dont do' long drawn out courses and there really is no rush...i just prefer the short, sharp option.
But rest assured i will inform Curly you sent me if i do decide on that option.
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark, That's cool. I got the impression the rush was to beat the standards! I agree the short, sharp option is best. I've been down the academic route in the past ... well, I guess this is another thread really but on the weekend I was musing about how much more effective teacher training courses could be if they were done in rapid NLP style. I used to prgramme manage and lecture on teacher education courses. Guess I'm now a fully paid-up herectic (feels great ) Be well, Ian

Now,
It would seem to me ...(Michael)..that there is a business opportunity for someone here...(Michael)
Wouldnt it be great ...(Michael)..if some trainer, somewhere...(Michael)..preferably somewhere nice and sunny...lets say, eeerm California, or even Florida..(Michael)...was to set up a short, Sharp coaching diploma training programm..(Michael) ?
If that trainer..(Michael)..could take a hint, it would be great wouldnt it ..(Michael) ?
Just a thought..(Michael)

Ah, the subtle influencing skills acquired in just seven days together... I am in negotiations at the moment to do a coaching mastery course in NYC in January - wouldn't be a full diploma but will count towards coach training hours for ICF (International Coach Federation). I'll announce details when I've got 'em! love, michael
