Having nearly called our company

Changes Unlimited Nlp Training

That still makes me laugh hysterically btw

We eventually decided on Changes Unlimited Training \o/

My fun question is What name have you given to your business/company and how did you decide on it.

We're Purposeful Paths Unlimited (we added the Unlimited after hearing John talking about limited companies at the Master Prac. and we're not one of those!).  Soon it will be Purposeful Paths Training LLP for formal use - limited liability partnership, which seems to be a good way of formalising a business without all the legal requirements that a ltd. co. imposes.

How did we arrive at the name? We wrote down all the descriptive words that resonated with us, put them in different combinations, threw out the ones already taken or too similar mainly by searching google and a domain name search) , and this was the name that we liked best at the end of that process.

Oh, and we wanted something that could cover all sorts of change and development work - most of what we do is and I suspect always will be NLP, but as ideas (ours and those 'out there') evolve, we want to be able to go with them.  That said, most of what we do, in the end (and the beginning) is about values and purpose, so it fits well.

There are some very inventive names around ... saw an NLP training company called Pink Grapefruit the other day ...

Much love,
Ian

I had a bit of a struggle as I wanted to put across the idea that my company is for therapists and therapy and that as well as the Hypnotherapy component, I am selling audio equipment. Spent ages just writing things down and deciding they were either too corny or finding they were already taken. Eventually came up with Sound Mind Systems.

I love Sound Mind Systems Smiley that made me smile
Purposeful Paths Unlimited is a great name too,
I loved choosing a name for our comapny
even though it took a while to feel that we had the right name which
could embrace what we do and who we are at the same time,

Keep them coming Smiley  *laughing*
at the ambiguity or my mucky mind  Shocked

My company is called Carte Blanche NLP - the freedom to do anything. It was an epiphany moment for me, out of the blue it just struck me, then on reading tranceformations some months later it was written in there in italics and it just seemd to be a comfirmation of choice.

 Smiley
My company is into it's 3rd incarnation (firstly 'Forward' with an arrow which btw is terrible feng shui then Phoenix as I tried to relaunch) and is now called 'Satori' Japanese for 'awakening' and used in Zen Bhuddism to refer to 'the moment of enlightenment' which is how I hope people expereince the training and coaching they receive; light bulb over the head moments!

I have no ambiguity or unfortunate rudeness as far as I know in any of that, after all, I've got enough to be going on with having been given the names Pamela Margaret Theresa  Embarrassed Shocked Shocked Shocked

Hi bluesky,

Just out of curiosity, was it in any way disruptive to your business when you changed the name?

Much love,

Ian, not a lot of disruption, existing customers were non-plussed and liked the new one, not yet met customers didn't know what they'd missed!
I just had new cards printed, put the new logo on my invoices and as I hadn't got a website, I had a new one created with the new name. That was it  Smiley

Melanie, thanks for all your compliments!
It was strange to get replies to 'Pamela' as people call me Pam these days (except my Mum of course Roll Eyes)
I used to hate it but it feels quite elegant now, at least when it's pronounced properly - as a child it was always pronounced Pamla!
Ironic all round though, as anyone who knows me in the physical plane would never describe me as elegant lol, more like whirling dervish  Cheesy

I use NLP techniques in business to help people to improve their creative thinking abilities, so I've called the business Coaching Ideas.  I teach people creative thinking, apply these techniques to generate ideas, and coach people on how to use them.  So I coach people to have ideas.

Keep it simple.

I kept mine simple-Harragan Hypnotherapy.  My name and what I do.  I considered many variations but they all sounded too Cheesey.  None of them felt congruent with who I am-a simple bloke so keep it simple.  There aren't too many Harragan's out there and that gives me something special.  Interestingly, when I started the process I didn't want my name involved.

My business names are relatively new and are a bit corny but I felt the need to get out there so I've gone with:
The Mind Academy for my training and consultation arm
Alternative Futures for the therapy arm.

Ah. I would be not only a geek but an oddball - my coaching tends to lurk more around the technical end of things. Smiley

(Newbie here.) My practice is CrisisBrainstorm.com. I work with people who have been mistreated, to either give them 10 or more creative solutions which I brainstorm when they are brain numb from anxiety or stress; or in some cases write persuasive letters on their behalf to get results: an apology, a repair, compensation, forgiveness, or simply acknowledgement.

I put this service aside for a while to assist practitioners with marketing. This year I'm transitioning from marketing consulting back to working with people in crisis.

My business is still in development (on the back of a beer mat) currently.

The working title though is "Any Other Business" as most people leave themselves to be the last item on the agenda of their own life. Shame that really isn't it?

Also that leaves me room to let the business do whatever I'm in the mood to do as I'm developing a portfolio career of which NLP and coaching are just constituent parts.
