website to donate free rice

I have just come across a website that I thought I'd share, www.freerice.com.

It is a site that gives 20 grains of rice for every word you correctly identify the definition from a multiple choice of 4. The site adjusts to your answers and asks you questions at an appropriate level (there's currently 55 levels, the words at the lower levels are the ones people get right the most. They say very few people get above level 48).

I got to 41 but ran out of time in my lunch break.  I'll have another go later.  It's quite fun really.  I've realised I understand a lot of words, but still don't use them in conversation.  Note to self - use more interesting words!

As I'm quite new to the site, I've been reading through all the previous stuff posted and went on the www.freerice.com. They now also cover Art, Chemistry, Geography, Languages and Maths. Great for a mental workout (and you can polish your halo afterwards!) - thought I was doing quite well until I had to identify countries!

I really wanted to share this with everyone. Last night emailed the headmaster of a local grammar school re the free rice website. Got a reply at 1.30 pm (local time) to say several of the teachers (mainly science) had already started using it and in one morning they had generated enough rice to feed a small village! So thank you again AnotherJen for bringing it to our attention.

This got me thinking: if everyone who reads this makes contact with at least one school whether they've got children or not then several villages could be helped which would then snowball ...... (ooh eck I'm warming to a theme here!).
There's also a link to the World Food Progam so that you can also donate using your credit card.
