I hear the expression 'go to your heart' being used alot and to be honest I am unsure of what it means. Are we talking about the actual physical heart here i.e. taking notice of it beating and the general physical sensations going on in or around it?

Or is it 'the heart' as in the metaphorical sense? If it's the latter then I have to admit I find it difficult to tune into that as I am unsure what i'm looking for or what to know when I have found it.

I believe it is both. Physically place your hand over your heart and become aware of yourself right this moment. By focusing on your heart, you are distracting your mind from what it was thinking and breaking your current state. This then changes your state and leads to a calming. Once you do this a couple times, it is then a memorable experience (anchored) and can be recalled metaphorically which will also change your state just by thinking about it.

That's my experience of it anyway. Smiley
