Hi everyone. This is my first post here so please be gentle with me Wink

To get straight to the point, I realised a while ago that I never spend any money without feeling guilty about it. Soon after I also realised that I don't have any good money memories. Money has always been a source of worry and stress, which I imagine explains why it continues to be a source of worry and stress!

Inspired by Michael's Hay House podcasts, I want to work on healing my relationship with money, but I'm not really sure where to start. Does anyone have any books, websites, etc., they can recommend?

(On one podcast Michael talked about re-imagining your childhood as if you lived in abundance rather than lack - apologies if I'm remembering that wrongly - and that seemed really useful, plus I'll be downloading Money Made Fun, of course!)

Thanks

Hiya Littlun,

I'm sure you can find answers to address your concerns. Me personally, I would find examples of behavior to counter your use of the word "Never". Do you feel guilty fueling your car or buying groceries? Your belief may be situational, and I would see in what contexts your belief is useful and where it gets in the way. Feeling guilty about spending money on something you can't afford can be useful! It may not be the belief that is right or wrong, just your belief about the belief. Wink

Welcome aboard! Best wishes,

Hi Clark

Thanks for your response.

Yep, 'fraid so. When I said "never" I meant never.

The other thing I realised recently (since I started working on my feelings around money) is that I get paid and then I resent any money leaving my account. No matter what it's for. I want the money to stay there (at least for a little while!) so I don't have to worry about it.

I've been trying to look at it in terms of the money is being spent on living our lives and that's what it's for, but it's still difficult. (I'm sure it would be easier if there was any left at the end of the month ... or even halfway through the month.)

Hello L

If you have 47 minutes to watch this small animation about money- it could open up a better understanding of what money is- http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-9050474362583451279&q=money&total=336119&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=1

and once you have a better understanding of what money is- there is an opening for playing the healthy money game.

Hi L,

Welcome to the site. *waves*

Inspired by Michael's Hay House podcasts, I want to work on healing my relationship with money, but I'm not really sure where to start. Does anyone have any books, websites, etc., they can recommend?

The first book that springs to mind is Paul McKenna's "I can make you rich" (edited by some bloke called Michael Neill Wink) which contains, among many others, the exercise you mention about re-imagining your childhood as if you lived in abundance rather than lack.

Thanks, Jay and Jen.

Jay, I haven't watched that video yet (April is designated "Money Month" so I'm just preparing), but I definitely will.

Jen, I remembered the McKenna book yesterday, but the library doesn't seem to have it (I'm sure they did when it came out, because I thought I reserved it... hmmm). Anyway, if that exercise is in it, I'll get hold of it somehow. Thanks!
