 Undecided Hello World,

I am working on a blog. Does anyone know the following:

1. How to design a an amazing blog?
2. How to market a blog?
3. How to maintain a blog?
4. How to circulate a blog?
5. How to monetize a blog?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, that's a big question...

Ok, to start with, I would woudl out how to build a blog. My favourite is Wordpress... it's not hard to do... here's mine at www.vivcraske.com/wordpress - it's simple, but it does the job.

Then I would absorb everything by Eben Pagan, Seth Godin, Mass Control's Frank Kern, James Lavers etc etc - you'll find the internet martketing mafia soon enough ;-)

There's also this guide which I like:

http://chrisguillebeau.com/3x5/overnight-success-resources-page/

Finally, why did all the work yourself - have a look at Elance and cnsider hiring some professionals to do the stuff you dont understand right now so you ca focus on the stuff you do.

Good luck

I was talking to a few people who have a blog and are making very good money from their blog. They suggested that I should try three different themes for a blog. The idea being, throw these three at a wall and see what sticks. I must confess that it is extremely difficult to decide what to blog about. I suppose that is the purpose of this 30 day transformation course. Try the impossible. Bottom line is I am still undecide about what I want to blog about. I think I will sleep over it for one more night and see what inspires.
Best of luck to all. Undecided

Hey Palidadi

I have a thought for you - what's the purpose of a blog? I only ask because many people get caught up in the 'form' or a new idea and not the function. Someone says, blogs are the next big thing, or twitter is the next big thing and before you know it, you've making a blog and then when it's made you take a breather and kinda have a 'so what?' moment.

My suggestion would be to have that so what moment first - for what purpose do you want the blog. If you  had it now, would would it get for you? Check - is this the right method to grow my business right now?

When you've got that and if you've decided a blog is the way to go (great if it is!) then can I suggest a way to pick what to blog about.

At school what were you known for?
What do you love?
What do others say you're good at?

Write down the answers to all three, and see what the overlap is. Hopefully there is an overlap! Now do the thing that meets all 3 (or at least 2) of those ideas...

Hope that's useful.... Or maybe not... but it works for me!

 - eg. at school, I was funny and a bit of a brainiac (ok, a nerd)
- I love writing and language
- others say I'm good at getting things done fast, being go getting, and winning 'arguments'

Therefore - I am an NLP coach working with confidence and happiness....

In my mind it fits beautifully, and that's what's importnat.

I hope you find a great fit... let me know what you come up with...

Hi. Viv,
Thanks for your input. I was very good at sports when I was studying. I am still a keen sportsman as in playing rather that watching it on T.V. Ultimately the purpose of my blog would be to monitize it and have a second income from it.  Talk to you soon.
Thanks,

How are you planning to monetize the blog?  Are you going to have information that is only accessible to members?  Are you creating a following which you will upsell products to?  If you lay out the process of what you want to "sell" in the end then it should help you determine who your target audience is and what they connect to.
